Volunteer Opportunities
By volunteering your time and skills, you can make a direct impact on the lives of survivors. We are always in need of compassionate individuals to help carry out our mission. Below are some of our current volunteer opportunities:
- Support Group Facilitators: Help lead in-person or online support groups, providing emotional support and guidance to survivors.
- Counselors: Licensed professionals to offer therapy and counseling sessions to survivors on a volunteer basis.
- Event Organizers: Assist in planning and executing fundraising and awareness events.
- Outreach Volunteers: Help spread the word about STAND’s services to communities and organizations throughout the DMV area.
- Advocacy Volunteers: Participate in legislative advocacy efforts to improve protections and resources for survivors.
Donate
Your donations directly support the vital programs and services we provide to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and trauma. Every dollar helps us offer shelter, legal assistance, counseling, and education resources to those in need.
- How Your Donation Helps:
- $25 can provide a survivor with transportation to a safe shelter.
- $50 can cover the cost of a counseling session.
- $100 can support a week’s worth of groceries for a survivor and their family.
- Recurring donations help us sustain long-term services and outreach programs.
Fundraising Events
STAND hosts various events throughout the year to raise awareness and funds for survivors. We invite you to join us at our upcoming events, where you can contribute to the cause while having a great time.
- Survivors' Walk for Hope
- Date: October 14, 2024
- Location: National Mall, Washington, D.C.
- Description: A community walk to raise awareness for domestic violence survivors. Participants can sign up individually or as teams. All proceeds support our shelter and counseling programs.
- Virtual Charity Auction
- Date: November 2-5, 2024
- Location: Online
- Description: Join us for an online auction featuring art, experiences, and services donated by local businesses and artists. All funds raised go directly to survivor support services.
- Empowerment Gala
- Date: December 9, 2024
- Location: Washington, D.C.
- Description: A formal evening dedicated to celebrating the strength of survivors and the impact of STAND. The event includes a dinner, silent auction, and speeches from survivor advocates.
- Chat & Chew fundraiser
- Date: October 26, 2024
- Location: Washington, D.C.
- Description: "Purple Voices: Strength in Unity". This theme fosters a sense of community, encourages open dialogue, and empowers attendees to take action in support of victims and survivors.
